Abstract

   The Ministry of Health released a brochure of Evaluation of the Comprehensive Women Reproductive health Services of MOH Health Centers and National Women Health Care Center, This study was conducted upon the request of the Ministry of Health/Jordan and United Nations Population Fund with participation of the National Women Health

  Care Center to evaluate the comprehensive women’s reproductive health and child health services, and the satisfaction of both service providers and clients of these services in a pilot study done in nine Kingdom’s  governorates. The aim of this study is to gain a better and more specific understanding of the services provided; identify and analyze any possible gaps in the Maternal and Child health and family planning services between what is on ground and what should be available and implemented and to take needed actions through good planning,

  Implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

 

 Main Results

 

  • 86% of reason for choosing the center was its closeness to clients’ residence, followed by the advice of sister/mother/relative/friends.

  • 90% of clients said they do have a medical file at the MCH.

 • 67% of clients didn’t wait more than 30 minutes until receiving the service.

  • Only 6% of clients knew that gender based violence (GBV) screening and management services are provided at the MCH, While 75% of supervisors and 40% of service providers received training on gender based violence.

  • None of the pre-marital couples was  asked by the service providers if they have had any chronic, genetic diseases, or if they were smoking. No blood pressure or clinical examination was done to any of the brides.

  * 92% of service providers measured weight and height for children who came for growth and development services and 88% of these children received head circumference measurement.

  • 97% of antenatal clients received blood pressure and weight measurements.

  • 45% of antenatal clients were not clinically examined, although the clinical guidelines assure that clinical examination should be done for all antenatal clients.

  • 54% of antenatal clients were not asked if they were smoking or practicing sports, and were not given any information about the negative effects of smoking and passive smoking.

  • 83% of clients who came for family planning services received information and counselling on family planning,

  • Only 1% of the interviewed clients were menopause and teenagers clients. Only 1% of the interviewed clients were menopause and teenagers clients

  • 29% of clients received training on breast cancer self-examination.

 

 • 100% of centers provided at least four family planning methods; one of them is IUD or Implanon.

 

  • 33% of family planning service providers received training on updated clinical guidelines during the last two years.

  • 44% of service providers were committed to wash their hands with soap and water before dealing with each client.

 • 100% of clients have a unique medical file number and 50% contain complete recent medical and reproductive information.

  • 22% of files have documented health education provided to clients.
